Pool Floor Pad For Above Ground Pools

Pool Floor Pad

Armor Shield pool floor pad provides a protective layer between the vinyl swimming pool liner and the ground. This product is highly recommended for Florida above ground pool or liner installations. Because the soils of Central Florida are so soft and sandy, it very common and easy for moles and beetles to burrow under pools. Above ground pools are often like magnets for critters, they and tree roots go here because of the moisture and to find something to eat. This product will keep unwanted rodents, roots, rocks, sharp objects and even glass from puncturing your new pool liner.

This Polypropylene Geo-textile material is extremely tough and nearly indestructible. Better yet it’s breathable, does not trap moisture and will not contribute to pool corrosion. Pre-cut to size and shape, no cutting or taping needed. Ready to use right out of the box. Great added insurance for your pool liner investment. Combine with nutgrass killer for the ultimate in pool liner protection. Nothing stop nutgrass in Florida but good nut grass poison.

Pool Cove For Above Ground Pools

Pool Cove

Every traditional above ground pool needs a cove to protect the liner from the base framework of the pool as well as help prevent excessive stretching of the pool liner and pre-formed pool cove kits make for a uniform and professional finish to your above ground pool project. These preformed flexible wedge shaped foam pieces measure 4″H x 3″W x 48″L and made from chemically neutral closed cell Ethafoam.

They’re placed around the entire inside perimeter of the pool at the base of the wall, and held in place by a tacky adhesive backing. The adhesive is covered by a clear, releasable film that is peeled away when the cove is being installed. The adhesive backing attaches the cove section to the pool wall and holds it firmly in place.

Wall Foam Kit For Above Ground Pools

Pool Wall Foam

Pool wall foam kits for above ground pools are designed to keep pool water warmer by adding insulation to your pool wall. At the same time it protects your new swimming pool liner from punctures. This is especially effective on older swimming pool walls that may now have a rough texture. Adding the pool wall foam will help smooth out the roughness and keep the liner from coming in contact with coarse wall surface.

This roll of pool wall foam is held in place with Foam Bond. This is a extremely sticky adhesive and highly recommended for use on wall foam over other brand spray adhesives. This spray glue must be applied to a clean dry pool wall to hold foam firmly in place. Pool wall foam works with pool walls up to 54″ tall. Foam color may vary by supplier.

Flat Pool Liner Coping

Pool liner coping simply installs on top of the pool liner and holds it firmly onto the pool wall. Liner coping is needed to hold the liner in place while protecting it from being damaged by the metal stabilizer bars. Pool liner coping tends to become brittle or crack after about 5 years of service and should be replaced during a pool liner replacement.

It may seem that the liner coping is in good shape until the pool is disassembled and there true status is revealed. It’s very good practice to purchase these coping strips at the same time you purchase your new pool liner to avoid any installation delays. Don’t get stopped in the middle of your liner change because of crumbling coping. This is great affordable insurance.

Round Pool Liner Coping

This is round pool liner coping and it typically is installed on top of the pool liner and holds it firmly onto the pool wall. It performs the same function as the flat liner coping but only differs in shape. Round coping is used on pools that have the round or tubular stabilizer bars. These were sold at Rec Warehouse stores for many years.

Bead Track For Above Ground Pools

Bead Track

Bead track works by simply clipping the pool liner onto the top of the pool wall. Bead track or bead receiver is usually made from hard but flexible plastic and runs around the top of the pool wall. This is a very nice addition to any semi-inground pool installation or pool built with a deck surrounding it. By using a bead track here you will not have to remove deck boards or disassemble the top of the pool for liner replacements. When using bead track you must only use a beaded or unibead pool liner.

Because there may be slight differences in bead track over the years, I recommend buying or replacing all of the bead track at the same time to avoid any issues. If you have an overlap pool liner now and want to switch to a bead track system, all that’s needed is the track kit and a unibead liner to make the conversion.

Pool Skimmer Kits

Pool skimmers are an often overlooked piece to replace when changing your above ground pool liner. Skimmer screw holes become stripped out over time and area around the screws often becomes brittle and cracks. Don’t start off your fresh liner change with a broken or damaged skimmer box. Do it the right way and it will last for years.

Skimmer kits often includes everything needed to completely replace the skimmer and return jet. Skimmer kit components include skimmer body, wide-mouth throat extension, face plate, gasket set, leaf basket, screws, weir door, skimmer lid, vacuum plate, return fitting, and hose connectors. Take a close look at the one you are replacing as several versions are used. Below are two of the most common skimmers and their bolt pattern with dimensions.

It’s good practice to check other plastic pieces like liner copings and bead receivers for signs of cracking or damage. They often look fine until they are removed from the pool. Old plastic parts tend to crumble or crack once the pool is disassembled.
